Coconut Joy Dessert Cake

When my sister and I used to make cupcakes at
PapaBoos Pizza, we had one on the menu we
named the Coconut Joy.

It was based on the Almond Joy/Mounds candy bars,
and was a coconut cake topped with coconut buttercream,
then dipped in dark chocolate and topped with chopped almonds.

Mmmmmmm......how I miss that cupcake! I've been craving one
for a while, so I finally turned in and made the cake version.

6" coconut cake with coconut buttercream,
topped with chocolate and toasted almonds.

Lace Peony Cake

I made this cake just for fun so I could try
out some new cake toys.

It's a 6" cake frosted in buttercream.
The lace detailing was created with a mold,
and the flower is handmade.
(And check out my new cake stand! Love it!)

I really love the look of the lace, so I think I'll
have to get some more of these molds.
This would be perfect for a birthday or an
engagement party or even a wedding cake!

Monkey Luau Birthday Cake

This cake is for a monkey luau themed
birthday party.

It's a 5" cake frosted in buttercream. The design
is based on the plates they are using at the party.

Happy Birthday Georgia!

Purple Floral Wedding Cake

Purple Floral Wedding Cake

It's a 5"/7"/12" cake frosted in buttercream with
fondant and gumpaste decorations.

The top tier is strawberry with strawberry filling and
features fondant drop strings, pearl details and a handmade
heart topper.
The middle tier is vanilla with raspberry filling and features
white and purple floral piping.
The bottom tier is vanilla cake with caramel buttercream filling
and is quilted with purple flowers and sugar pearl accents.

The flowers were made from gumpaste and are roughly
based on a peony. They were handpainted with silver.

Congratulations to Jay and Tess!

Portal Video Game Themed Groom's Cake

The bride asked me to create a cake for her groom
based on the Portal video game which he loves
to play. She wanted it to look like they were
going into and coming out of two portals.

Here's the finished cake! It's a marble cake with
Nerds candy flavored cupcakes which also represent
an element from the game.
